Bread in Common – 4.5/5
It’s been a while since I’ve been really excited about a restaurant. Bread in Common ticks all the right boxes – an amazing fitout (even the toilets are great!), fabulous food and great tunes. They played Bright Eyes, Vampire Weekend and The Shins during our brunch. Love.
Located in Packenham Street, away from the Cappuccino Strip, the restaurants looks and feels great. We had two great long macchiatos and the scrambled eggs topped with delicious dukkah and the tomato, avocado, caper and bread salad. We also tried a dish simply named ‘anchovy bread and egg yolk’ – thinly sliced and toasted bread smeared with an anchovy paste and sat on top of a creamy eggy sauce. It was our brunch standout. I’ll definitely order them alongside some of their oysters and a cold drink on our next visit.
They don’t take bookings but we didn’t wait long at around 11am (which is about ten minutes after we sadly found out that Bib and Tucker’s kitchen was closed before lunch service…). Their freshly baked bread is also great, grab some to relive your visit at home.
We will be back. And soon!
