The Beach Club, Cottesloe Hotel

The Beach Club – 4/5

It’s been years since I last visited the Cottesloe Hotel on a Sunday afternoon. Some things are the same – lots of sunshine, big crowds and a line to get into the beer garden if you arrive after 3pm. What has changed, however, is the fitout – the grassed outdoor area has been replaced with white tiling, beach umbrellas and bright cushions and couches. We arrived around 1.30 and were lucky enough to get a table in the shade.

Alongside a few ciders and beers, we ordered the bucket of chips with spicy salt, the battered snapper and chips, the Middle Eastern lamb pizza and the crispy chilli and cumin prawns to share between four. The food was definitely above average pub food. The flavours were great and a good match with a cold beverage.

If you’re not keen on crowds, I’d avoid Sunday afternoons! The front bar is also a great option with views over beautiful Cottesloe Beach.

  1. The last time I went to the Cott was a few years ago – inbetween a friend’s wedding at UWA and reception in Cottesloe. I remember it distinctly as we pulled up a table and had a few beers in the sunshine; no food though. Nice to know that the food is as good as the view though (good quality meat is always a drawcard, the menu looks great)! Love a good bucket of chips and aioli. Thanks for the great review!
