Sushia – 4.5/5
We first visited Sushia almost a year ago, just a week after it opened and loved every minute of it. With high expectations, we returned on Friday night and were thankfully, not at all disappointed. We arrived after work and were met with a very busy bar area (mirroring most of the venues in the Brookfield Place precinct) and the entire dining area of restaurant was full by 7pm.
Alongside tall bottles of Ebisu beer, we shared a mixture of dishes, promising to veer away from our Japanese staples of miso fish and nasu dengaku! We had a lovely salty bowl of edamame, the light and fresh Trout Zuke (cured ocean trout, pickles, melon and Japanese relish), salt and peppered Japanese squid with loads of chilli, wonderful tori karaage and one of the specials on the night – an amazing crab dish topped with a spicy mayo based sauce with a layer of popping salmon roe. It was a real highlight.
We finished our fantastic meal with mochi ice cream – black sesame and green tea flavoured ice creams surrounded by the delightfully chewy mochi. It was a lovely and not too sweet way to end the night.
