Lalla Rookh – 4/5 If you are thinking of visiting Lalla Rookh, don’t eat beforehand. If you miss out on trying the complimentary warm bread or the amazing braised organic beef marrow with parmigano and brioche you will be bitterly disappointed. Follow up the marrow with a delicious pasta (we had the special on the night – a creamy tomato based crab dish) or the home-style veal osso buco because frankly, two serves of marrow can’t be a bad thing. Nolita – 4/5 Nolita is a new restaurant in the Claremont area. It boasts an amazing fitout, great service and a no reservation policy. We ended up being seated after 9.30 on Saturday night. Alongside a bottle of Coriole wine, our table had the bread and olives for starters and the ravioli, the duck parpadelle, the steak and the seafood linguine for mains. My ravioli was delicious however the burnt butter sauce flavour was overwhelmed by the addition of cubes […]
Jamie’s Italian – 3.5/5 We thought we were being smart by arriving at 11.50 for lunch at Jamie’s but were told we were in for a 1hr and 15min wait. Luckily we were early enough to snag some great seats at the bar! We whiled away the time with local WA beers (including Raging Bull) and coffee. When we were seated by our very efficient waiter, we tried the complimentary breads, the pumpkin nachos (little fried ravioli), truffled chips, prawn […]
Galileo Buona Cucina – 3.5/5 Located in Shenton Park, Galileo is a traditional Italian restaurant. Service is attentive, the restaurant busy and the wine list, huge. We came mid-week and all the tables were full. Make sure you pre-book. Our table shared bruschetta and antipasto. I had the pea filled ravioli with crab and broad beans. Good value with mains under $30. The food was very full of flavour but a little rich for my tastes. Our coffees came with […]
